To succeed in a fast-paced industry rag trade retailer Leon Siebel takes a hands-on approach. Leon Siebel is a man who owes a lot to his jeans. As the CEO of Global Rags jeans wear and fashion brand store, he realises he owes much of his livelihood to the humble denim pants.

Global Rags now Carries 57 brands and runs a chain of ten stores nationally with an additional five opening by April.

 
Siebel believes in a hands on approach to success with involvement in all aspects of the business including the buying and brand selection process, store design concepts, through to the company’s marketing and PR.
 

“No one week is like another in the ragtrade, and especially within the Global Rags business. One week, I might be working on exclusive ranges with Australian designers, and the next week training and motivating our new sales staff before that they hit the floor,” says Siebel.

Not content with resounding success in Australian market, Siebel is not resting on his laurels and plans to take on the world.

“Global Rags has plans to expand to 70 stores over the next three years, and we are very serious about taking our business model to the states after that.

“But whatever happens we are going to have a lot of fun doing it,” according to Siebel.

I love hearing positive feedback from our customers, it’s what drives me. I try and get out to stores as often as I can and get on the shop floor to see what we are doing right….and also see what we need to improve.

I love fashion; how it inspires people, gives them confidence and helps them define who they are and what they like. You have to have this love, coupled with a little blood, sweat and tears to survive in this business,” said Siebel.
